"Young Souls" By Dean Chalkley
Image courtesy of Cameron Smith : http://www.camphotographic.co.uk/
Last Thursday was all about the celebration of the Northern Soul Movement at the Bethnal Green Working Man's Club - with the exclusive screening of Dean Chalkley's short film "Young Souls" presented by 125 Magazine being shown to a select group of industry folks, cast members, competition winners and northern soul fanatics.
Myself and Mr Koziel made our way to the heart of Bethnal Green and walked straight back into 60's Britannia, there were alot of impressive moves from both young and mature dancers - I think I've been converted plus the short film was amazing! if you would like to check out what the party was like you should head over to 125's facebook page and check out the photo's!

Bag Lust - ' Boy Chanel '
The iconic house of Chanel will be releasing their new bag the 'Boy Chanel' for A/W'11 this September. Oh so different from the original 2.55 this bag is said to be modelled on the hunting cartridge style that Coco herself used to embrace. Karl Lagerfield explains :
"Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel"
The collection comes in a variety of sizes, click after the break for more pics.
Inside Job Exhibition
Photography courtesy of : James Lange (PYMCA)
Thursday the 7th of July was a photography exhibition day for me and after attending the street photography festival in various locations (Will post later on in the week). I made my way down to Kingly Court In Carnaby Street for the "Inside Job" launch a private viewing of Images by legendary photographer Lawrence Watson and a selection of bespoke varsity jackets by The House Of Balliam.
Brilliant exhibition within a well thought out space, with the centrepiece being a "Youth Club commissioned House of Billiam varsity jacket (see above) with the lining of the jacket made from an iconic photograph taken by long-time YOUTH CLUB contributor Lawrence Watson".
Got myself a really nice print too, The inside job is on till tomorrow the 19th and if you would like to see more pics of the event check out their facebook page :

Daley, Estelle & David Banner - Benz
I've posted about Daley before his voice needs no hypin' - you can hear that for yourself! Pure british talent and it looks like he's about to hit the big time!
Rooftop Film Club
Went to watch "Blue Valentine" with Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling at the Queen Of Hoxton on Monday. Brilliant Concept and a nice break from your normal cinema experience, there's a blanket on your seat for when gets a little chilly and wireless headphones so you can still move about and not miss a thing plus a mini popcorn machine, bar and bar-b-q.
The film itself well it was my first time watching and I have to say EMOTIONAL! Beautifully filmed though and the performances from both Williams and Gosling were so believable, definitely would recommend but would warn to those in an not so secure relationship to stay away I think couple that was sat in front of me found that out the hard way. Gutted.
If you would like to experience rooftop for yourself check out their site: http://www.rooftopfilmclub.com/

Ben Sherman - Englishman In New York
BS officially launched their A/W'11 campaign with Simon (how hot is the beard?) Kelly as the face of the Plectrum Collection "Englishman In New York" this week and I'm totally in awe of the updated, you could almost say re-invention of the brand. Still staying true to it's British roots but definitely becoming a lot more acquainted with it's cool consumer who knows exactly what they want from their clothes (its all in the detail~~~~~). I could continue to tell you my opinion but it's better to see it and judge it for yourself head over to their new temporary brand site http://www.bensherman.co.uk/ and check it out!

Periscope Project
Very similar to the "Boxpark" concept in shoreditch - the Periscope project in San Diego, California however is for art installations and exhibitions.
"The Periscope Project has emerged as a multidisciplinary co-op working to establish viable amenities for artists, designers, students, scholars and activists in the form of work, project and common space. Additionally, it is a representational project working to visualize alternative land-use and development models within the city—such that promote spatial structures capable of supporting inclusion and connectivity of mutual social, political and civic achievement."
Should check out Boxpark's shopping concept it's going to take to pop-up shopping to another level!

Shaun Samson A/W'11
Taken from Goldentheories.tumblr.com
Utter brilliance never seen this fusion of fabrics being done before anywhere else on the catwalk and I'm sure it will not be fading into the background anytime soon. Shaun Samson's inspiration is modern streetwear mixed with latino street culture, prison wear and American workwear what a melting pot huh? He's worked with Jeremy Scott and he is truly one up & coming designer to watch! Click more for more of the collection.
“In this collection I developed a needle punch felting technique that fuses different fabrics together. Once I finalised the fabrics, it was then a matter of finding which ones felted best with others and what colours complemented each look.”

Slacklining Craze
Only for the professionals, the slacklining craze I repeat is only for the professionals - It's been around for a while and has been described as a " ever evolving innovation ". I'm sure adrenaline junkies and the fearless will be attracted to this craze however really hope it doesn't catch on like "planking" did because lets face it doesn't take much skill to lay face down is it?
